Fuqua Hardware Recommendations
Below are the minimum requirements for a student’s laptop to enable him or her to complete course related work with minimal impact on computer performance.
Note: The Help Desk is only able to support laptops with English operating systems
- Operating System:
- Windows 11
- macOS 26
- Processor:
- Minimum: Intel i7/Ultra 7 (or equivalent)
- Recommended: Intel i7 (or equivalent) or higher for improved performance
- For Mac: Apple M1 chip or newer
- Memory (RAM):
- Minimum: 16 GB
- Recommended: 32 GB RAM for optimal performance
- Storage:
- Minimum: 250 GB
- Recommended: 500 GB or more
Note about TSC support and Microsoft Excel
We recommend that your operating system be in English. Additionally, non-English versions of Microsoft Excel may not be compatible with some of the software required in many courses. Duke provides students with an English version of Office 365 free of charge.
Several software applications used in the Duke MBA programs do not have a macOS equivalent. Mac users can access a virtual Windows environment via the Fuqua VPN and Remote Desktop (Windows App available in the Apple App Store).
Incoming Student Laptop Configuration
It is required of all students to configure their own laptops prior to the first day of their orientation.
Downloading Course Calendars
By logging into DukeHub you can download your course calendar
Obtaining Student Hi-Res Photo
The link for your Hi-Res photo can be retreived from your FuquaWorld profile page:
- Log into FuquaWorld
- Click the your name “First Last” link at the top of the page
- Click on “Profile”
- Click on “High Resolution Photo” under your picture
Submitting Photo to FuquaWorld
The link for all Faculty, Staff, and Students to upload their photos to Fuqua World. Once complete, Multimedia has to crop the photo and upload it, so give 2 days to complete the process.
ToolKits – Tools and Groups for Collaboration
Toolkits allows Duke faculty, students and staff to create and define online communities or groups and then control access and rights to various online tools, such as Duke WordPress, Sympa email lists, Duke Video and wikis in Confluence
