Excel Add-Ins

Certain core classes at Fuqua require the use of Microsoft Excel add-ins. Not all add-ins are compatible with Microsoft Excel on the Mac.

The following are the only add-ins that are compatible with both Microsoft Excel on Mac and Windows:

  • Solver
  • SensIt
    • SensIt works on all current versions of Excel for Windows and Excel for macOS, except Excel version 16.79 on macOS.  
  • RegressIt
  • TreePlan
    • TreePlan version 2.13 works on most current versions of Excel for Windows and macOS except for: version 2206 for Widows and versions 16.62, 16.63, and 16.63.1 on macOS. 

The following add-ins and software programs must be used within a Windows operating system utilizing no version older than Microsoft Office 2019 Professional (We recommend the 64-bit version). Some of the add-ins will not work properly if used with Office 365:

  • Crystal Ball
  • FSBstats
  • People Express Simulator
  • Statgraphics Centurion

If you have a Mac computer, you are required to be able to run all of the above add-ins and software programs in the courses where they are used. This can be done through the installation of a virtual machine, such as VMWare Fusion, or by utilizing a virtual machine through Duke OIT’s Virtual Computing Manager.

How to install Excel Addins:

  • The following instructions are for FSBSTATS, SensIt, and TreePlan
  • Download the appropriate file below. (Please make sure to save the file somewhere on your computer so that it does not get deleted or moved.)
  • Extract the files from the .zip file.
  • Right click > Properties > Unblock

  • Open Excel and click on File> Options > Add-ins. At the bottom of the screen, click on Go.
  • Click on Browse and direct Excel to the file you just downloaded and unblocked:

    Used in Strategic Modeling and Business Dynamics
